Jan 2012: MOT Exemption Survey: Your Views Wanted.
The possibility of exempting certain groups of vehicles from the requirement to have an annual MoT test has been under discussion since the end of 2010.
The Department for Transport issued a consultation on the subject in November, which included a proposal to exempt pre-1960 vehicles from testing. The full text of the consultation can be found at www.dft.gov.uk/consultations/dft-2011-27 .
The Federation of Historic British Vehicle Clubs, of which we are a member, will be submitting a response to this consultation. Before responding the FHBVC needs to understand what historic owners feel about the proposal. Time is limited as responses have to be made before the end of January. The only practical way to obtain this information in time is by means of an on-line survey that addresses the key questions raised by the consultation.
The FBHVC would like classic vehicle owners firstly to read the consultation documents and then to take part in their survey. The FBHVC will then make a formal response to the consultation based on the views expressed.
To take part in the survey visit http://fbhvc.co.uk/mot-survey/ , survey closes 26th January 2012.

The National BSA OC raffle bike will be on show, it's a BSA 1971/2 A65 Thunderbolt, American Spec imported from the USA, with very low mileage on the clock and finished in flamboyant red.

Rye (Hamsteet) Classic Bikejumble on Sunday, 16th May. Great turn-out of stalls with plenty of bargains, plus an impromptu Mustang fly-past. I'm reliably informed that the awesome howl as the Mustang banks is air passing thru' the gun-slots, not the turbo cutting in nor the screams of the pilot!
