Prizewinners: Ride-In Show
Two £25 prizes and custom etched glass tumblers were up for grabs at Sunday’s popular Romney Marsh classic motorcycle event at Hamstreet in Kent TN26 2JD on Sunday 21 September.
Best Classic Motorcycle was won by Richard Kurtz and his 1935 Royal Enfield Model K 976cc v-twin. Richard was over the moon to win ‘Best Classic’ at the Romney Marsh Show today. Richard told us the “£25 prize was very welcome considering how much juice the Enfield drinks. Gladstone bag contains a gallon of E5….”.
Best Post-Classic Motorcycle prize went to : Gary Richardson and his gorgeous green 1972 Kawasaki H1D 500cc, the two-stroke triple-cylinder brother to the infamous Widowmaker. Gary did the paintwork himself, making a superb job of it!
Best Club Stand : Royal Enfield Owners Club
We had a great day in the Bikejumble, with plenty of buying and selling going on. Many people were clearing out garages, providing some excellent stock, and there were lots of serious buyers. Traders came from far and wide, with stalls from the Isle of Man and the Netherlands while we had a good turn-out from up-country with Jim Thirlaway reporting good trading. I was amazed that another stallholder from Bishop Auckland sold well and bought out another stall-holder – he was left at the end of the day pondering how to load it all in for the return trip!
So yes, the market has dropped in value but it hasn’t collapsed - folk are still actively buying and selling.
